Moon Moon Food (雙月食品社Shuāng yuè shí pǐn shè) was founded in 2010 by Lai Yong-sheng, using his mother's chicken soup recipes. The first shop opened near NTU Hospital, and the Qingdao East Road branch holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand, with Michelin also tagging it as worth queueing for. There are now branches around Taipei and in Banqiao, plus a few takeaway-only outlets.

Stewed chicken soup is the reason to go: the classic version, clam and chicken, garlic chicken thigh, or a lingzhi herbal soup. Pair it with the 愛恨椒芝麵 ("love-hate" noodles with sesame paste and Sichuan pepper) or the handmade oil rice, which is made in a limited batch each day and often sells out. Soups were around NT$170 in 2023. Our review of the Beitou branch, next to Beitou Park, found the prices fair and the staff happy to help non-Chinese speakers.

Moon Moon doesn't take reservations. At most branches you order at a kiosk or counter, take a number, and wait for a seat. Most open for lunch and dinner with a break in the afternoon, and some close on Sundays or Mondays.
