燒肉Smile

Yakiniku Smile (燒肉Shāo ròuSmile) looks Japanese, but it's a Taiwanese brand, launched in Taichung in 2020 by the 築間 (Jhujian) restaurant group. The format is solo yakiniku: every diner gets their own small grill and orders their own set.

Sets range from about NT$328 for a pork combo to over NT$1,000 for A5 wagyu, with the beef trio (NT$528) the most popular. The meat comes in set portions, but the self-serve bar is unlimited: salad and vegetables, rice, kimchi, a kombu chicken soup, soft drinks and soft-serve ice cream. Some branches are lighter 輕享 stores, with smaller sets from around NT$230 and a smaller bar.

There's a 90-minute limit and a 10% service charge, and it's dine-in only.
