Michelin Taiwan 2026: The Bib Gourmand List Is Out — 146 Restaurants, 13 New
By Kalen Johnson ·
Michelin released its 2026 Bib Gourmand selection for Taiwan on July 14 — the "very good food at moderate prices" tier that, for most people eating in Taiwan, matters more than the stars. This year's list recognizes 146 restaurants nationwide, with 13 new entries. The full star list follows on July 21 at a ceremony at the Grand Hi-Lai in Taipei; we'll cover that separately.
The city breakdown: Taipei 37, Tainan 30, Taichung 23, Kaohsiung 21, New Taipei 18, Hsinchu County 10, Hsinchu City 7.
Michelin says over 80% of the newcomers are dedicated to local Taiwanese small eats, home-style cooking, and Hakka fare — the list keeps drifting toward the food Taiwan actually eats, which makes it increasingly useful as a travel document.
The 13 new Bib Gourmands
Taipei (4)
- 青嬌 (Ching Jiao) — Jiangzhe-style cooking built around chicken soup
- 開囍 (Open Smile) — braised pork, 滷肉 (lǔròu) done as the main event
- 武田咖哩 (Toriaezu Curry) — Japanese-style curry
- 有有1969 (Yu Yu 1969) — classic Taiwanese
New Taipei (3)
- 阿爸的客家菜 (Abba Hakka) — Hakka cooking built on fermented-jar heritage
- 北鴨鴨肉羹 (Bei Ya Duck Thick Soup) — duck soup and duck rice
- 碧潭橋頭鵝肉 (Bitan Chiao Tou Goose) — smoked goose by Bitan bridge in Xindian, a 30-plus-year local fixture

- 竹記冬菜鴨 (Zhu-Ji Dong Tsai Ya) — a duck house dating to 1942
Taichung (1)
- 東沐 (Dong Moo) — home-style duck rice and noodles, as well as a concentrated duck soup
Hsinchu County (2)
- 季風 (Monsoon) — relocated from Taipei, now serving Hakka vegetarian set menus
- 一哥炊粉 (Yi Ge Rice Vermicelli) — a rice-vermicelli institution of forty-plus years
Reading the list
A few things stand out. New Taipei's three additions are all old-school — smoked goose, duck soup, Hakka jars — and 碧潭橋頭鵝肉 puts a Bib Gourmand within a riverside walk of Xindian MRT, easy day-trip territory from Taipei. Tainan's picks lean hard into heritage, with two duck-and-mutton institutions that have been around for decades. And Hsinchu, the perpetually underrated food county, added two more reasons to get off the high-speed rail.
We've eaten at a few Bib Gourmand spots and written them up — Wang's Broth in Wanhua, Moon Moon Food in Beitou, and Tamsui's Dark Palace, all selections still included in the 2026 guide. Expect the new entries to get very busy, very fast. That's the reliable Bib Gourmand effect — so if one is near your itinerary, go on a weekday, go early. I'm sure we will visit some of these spots to review, we just may wait a few weeks for some of the initial hype to die down a bit.

The Michelin List Reviews
Wang's Broth: Two Years in Taiwan, Finally Eating at the famous Michelin Bib Gourmand Restaurant
Two years in Taiwan, and I still hadn't been to Wang's Broth. So I went. Here's my review from Huaxi Street's Michelin Bib Gourmand stall, the lǔ ròu fàn everyone talks about, the soup that gave the place its name, and everything in between.
Dark Palace: Tamsui's Pork Chop Rice Since 1971
Down an unassuming side lane in Tamsui, a 50-year restaurant that began as a humble pork chop stall and now sits in the 2025 Michelin Guide. They have been famous for the bone-in pork chop rice, but recently people have enjoyed the crispy chicken thigh more. Add on the starch-thick 祖傳大滷湯 (ancestral braised soup), and a beef-tallow chilli sauce locals would happily buy by the jar.
Moon Moon Food Beitou
A Bib Gourmand kitchen in Beitou turning out high-end Taiwanese home cooking without the high-end price. Bouncy sesame noodles with a Szechuan kick, an understated bowl of tender braised chicken soup, vegetable sides are also worth ordering.
