Taiwan G Tang (台灣G湯) is a chicken soup chain that started on Yingzhuan Road in Tamsui, where the original shop still trades as 台G店. It now has around 20 locations across Taipei, New Taipei and Taoyuan, and a few further south.
Sesame oil chicken soup (麻油雞湯) is what it's known for: bone-in, skin-on chicken in a rich, deep broth with cabbage and thick slices of ginger, around NT$290 a bowl. The other soups include garlic chicken, chicken with peeled chilies, mushroom chicken and an aged radish soup. Add noodles for NT$40, or order the sesame oil 麵線 or chicken-fat rice (雞油飯) on the side.
There's no English menu, so it helps to know the Chinese names above. The soups are also sold frozen through the chain's online shop.
