Silks Palace
Silks Palace is the in-house restaurant at Taipei's National Palace Museum, located in a standalone red-and-gold pavilion designed to echo the museum's traditional architecture. The restaurant is operated by the Silks Hotel Group (晶華) and serves Cantonese-leaning Chinese cuisine across three floors, with a focus on dim sum at lunch and multi-course banquets in the evening.
What sets Silks Palace apart is its "National Treasure Banquet" — a series of signature dishes modeled after actual artifacts in the museum's collection. The best known is a dessert replica of the museum's famous Jadeite Cabbage, rendered in ingredients rather than stone, and a braised pork belly shaped to resemble the Meat-Shaped Stone. The museum's galleries holding the originals are next door.
The restaurant is popular for business lunches, family celebrations, and tourists combining lunch with a museum visit. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially on weekends and during peak tourist seasons. The dim sum menu is available at lunch only; dinner service leans toward larger set menus and private-room dining.
Located directly adjacent to the museum's main entrance in Shilin, Silks Palace is accessible on foot from the National Palace Museum itself, or by bus from MRT Shilin Station (red line). There's no direct MRT access to the museum, so plan on a bus or taxi for the last leg.
