Taiwan's two major food guides released their 2026 selections within a week of each other. MICHELIN named 146 Bib Gourmand restaurants on July 14—stars follow July 21—while the local 500 Bowls street-food census crowned 472 eateries, only two earning the top Triple Bowl.

Awards & Lists

MICHELIN Bib Gourmand 2026: 146 restaurants, 13 new 《臺灣米其林指南 2026》必比登推介公布,全台146家入選、13家新上榜

Announced July 14; full star list follows July 21

The 2026 Bib Gourmand list went live July 14—very good food at moderate prices—with 146 restaurants across seven cities and 13 new entries, over 80% dedicated to local Taiwanese small eats, home-style cooking, and Hakka fare. New Taipei brings three Hakka and duck specialists; Tainan adds a 60-year mutton shop, a rice-table culture house, and a duck operation from 1942; Taipei gains a Jiangzhe chicken-soup spot, a braised-pork specialist, a Japanese curry house, and a classic Taiwanese diner. These are the cheapest, most practical eats in the guide—worth planning a trip around.

500 Bowls 2026: 472 eateries, two Triple Bowl champions

Taiwan's street-food census named 472 eateries in its fourth edition, with only two earning the top Triple Bowl—許仔豬腳麵線 in Taipei (pork-knuckle noodles) and 金饌脆皮烤鴨 in Taichung (crispy roast duck). Four new special awards debuted: 阜杭豆漿 for artisan heritage, 台鐵七堵便當 for timeless classic, 林家乾麵 for ultimate flavor, and 蕭媽媽手工創意水餃 for innovation. This is the local-consensus counterpoint to MICHELIN—cheaper, more representative of what Taiwanese actually eat.
